Boring photo. Big Decisions

Big decision because it's such a big expense. But I made it all on my own. Very scary considering that for the past 37years I didn't even buy shoes without discussing with Don so to make a decision to rip up the fitted carpets stained with dog pee since Max and Charlie came into our home and spend R25k on tiling is a very big decision
good luck with your decision.. I vote for tile, not boring at all

@365projectltaylor I've chosen and paid for the tiles in that display 600mm x 600mm. They will be delivered on Tuesday or Wednesday. Tiler will arrive on Thursday to start ripping up fitted carpets and chopping out the tiles currently in kitchen / dining room. Then start tiling on Friday. Spending twice as much to do the entire open plan area so that I end up with one floor space flowing across the room.

That sounds wonderful Desi, so very practical especially with pets.

Sounds like a good decision Desi - well done!

it's very different: not having someone to discuss things with - but it sounds like a well thought out plan

@ludwigsdiana Thanks Diana. Yes it will be more practical with the dogs in the house! Worried it will make my house colder in winter, but it may also be cooler in summer?

@narayani Thanks Narayani. Dreading having it done - with only me to control the dogs and keep an eye on the workmen it will be stressful, so I can't wait for it all to be over now

@anniesue Thanks Annie-Sue. I have been thinking about it for quite a while and it just seems the sensible thing to do. I can't get the carpets clean - even though I have had professional people in a few times with their steam cleaners, the stains from the dogs pee just don't go.

And is the decision made? I’m sure it will be fantastic!

@pusspup Yes decision made. Very quickly. Normally I agonise over these kinds of decisions and bring tile samples home and end up more confused so do nothing. Uncharacteristically, I saw a few tiles I liked (in my price range) - decided the wood look I thought I wanted would look too busy, the grey tiles would look too cold, the ones I really liked the colour of were too small, and snap that left the ones in the picture. They had in stock the exact amount I needed, plus one extra box, so I decided that was a message and bought their entire stock without any further agonising.

Good for you for being so decisive! That is a huge decision because you hopefully won’t be replacing them again. Looks like a good choice that you can live with for a long time. We agonized over our new kitchen flooring so I know what you mean!
