Afghanistan

This is a abstract macro shot of a Poppy wreath on the East Leake War Memorial.

Today we hear the very sad news of 3 more British servicemen killed in Afghanistan. A man dressed as an Afghan Policeman shot them as they left a meeting of elders. The gunman was someone's son, and probably a father. He murdered someone's sons and probably the father's of several small children.

Since 2002, 422 British service personnel have died in Afghanistan. May they all rest in peace, and their families find the strength to live on without them. I extend these sentiments to servicemen and their loved ones of all nationalities who have given their lives in Afghanistan.

I have spent some time today, in contemplation of three heartbroken sets of family and friends who mourn the loss of three heroes today.

For the remaining troops, may you stay safe, and return home to your loved ones. You humble those of us who carry on our daily lives. You have my unreserved respect.

cool!

Well said, Sean. We lost another Aussie in Afghanistan today also. Terribly sad and you feel for their families.

@asutherland1964 Thank you Andrew. My thoughts are with him and his family, it is a terrible, senseless loss of life. I am beginning to see 365 as a way to occasionally express the way I feel about things that are happening in the world. Thank you for having the courage to comment on my post, I appreciate it.
