Ringlet

A terrible summer for butterflies, but hopefully we have some good weather now.

This is a Ringlet, a butterfly that frequents woodland and hedgerows. Ben and I just went over to the woods at the bottom of Fox Hill for a walk with our cameras and I was fortunate to capture this one as it landed to bask.

Ben took some cool zoom bursts.

nice shot of a ringlet - their population has suddenly exploded in the last few days - but I've not managed to get that close for shots :(

@shannew Thanks. I have been patient and acted on a hunch that those in the woods may be basking before those that are around the fields and hedges near my house.

Nice one Sean. they've been further south for a week. I love them with the wings open, lovely dark brown with the white frilley edges. Lovely :)
