Taken less than 30ft from my front door. Please view me large!
I always find it difficult to distinguish between Small and Large Skippers so I will plump for Small and let @runningbk and @shannew correct me and provide some tips for differentiating them. For the second day running I popped out to get a Gatekeeper and came back with something else instead!
Thank you to everyone for the wonderful comments on my work this week. I passed through the milestone of 600 Favs today, 31,000 views and 9000 comments, and my Docklands Light Railway shot made the PP.
I liken 365 to a relationship.
You have the exciting, madly in love stage, then the stage where you feel as if you belong together. This is followed by an uphill stretch where you test each others staying power and resolve and have to decide if it will last.
I am now in the contentment stage, where I know why I am here, what is in it for me, my limitations and ambitions and what I can offer. At the moment I find it easy to get a shot, and some days I am spoiled for choice, but a month ago that was not the case. I love the friendships I have made, understand that not everyone can comment on every photo and appreciate the understanding of my friends who know that I am in a similar position.
I hope that the contentment stage lasts for a long time, and that someone out there feels the same way!
I'm no expert, but I suspect large skipper, it doesn't look quite the same as the small skippers I've been trying to get shots of - and it's also got black tips to the antennae, which means it's not small - I've got a similar one here http://www.flickr.com/photos/12323897@N04/7435417606/in/photostream/
Sean, you need to tag in your comments otherwise the person doesn't get a notification :/
What a shot to get just near your own door! You're being all sentimental hehe... I know what you're saying though... the uphill bit is a real struggle too! While we're here, I will say I always expect your comments... *ahem* hahahah... ok, kidding :P It's hard to keep up on your own some days, isn't it! Congratulations on your PP and 600 fav's... WAY TO GO, YOU!
So agree I nearly threw in the towel 2 weeks ago!! Glad I didn't though! Whether he's large or small he's gorgeous!! Dreadful weed though ragwort.........congratulations on all your vital statistics!! :))
I love how he is on those bright cheery yellow flowers, and the lighting is just beautiful. I also love how you described the relationship with 365 -- I agree 100%. Fav!
@fannyb Thanks Fanny, I think we have to keep going, I only have 150 or so to go. I think, right, 20 for days on holiday, 5 for birthdays and christmas, 10 more pub names, think of a new theme thats 10 more, have a couple of weekends away (Northiam), hope for 5 or 6 more butterfly shots, 2 or 3 more Olympic shots, and then you are looking for inspiration on less than 100 days....
@seanoneill I'm way out of your league on statistics! (Which is totally o.k. with me -- I'm learning and improving as I go, thanks to wonderful people like you!....) :)
