I'm just watching the news now...... I feel such sorrow and pain for all those affected, how can any human be so inhuman? ....... I hadn't heard when I posted my photo earlier, am feeling very shallow now.
Sean, that's poignant and perfect mate.
Apparently it's a good thing that in the US people can just walk into a shop and buy guns and bullets easy as buying a coffee. Wonder if they'll ever learn?
@jackie8 don't be Jackie, you are just as caring and loving, shocked and numbed as the rest of us. I heard the news while driving an hour long journey to fetch Sam from a friends and decided not to post what I had already taken today.
A perfect tribute Sean - makes we grateful that my kids are safe and sound, and I feel just a touch of guilt at feeling sorry for myself that the kids and I have not been feeling well these last couple of days. Bless you for thinking of others first. That's given me the kick I needed - thank you!
I heard had to get on the Internet for work and there was a breaking news alert. My heart just sank when I read it. This is happening too much here. My heart goes out to the victims and their families.
@bluefirebucket I am American and I totally agree with your comment. I think the right to bear arms in our constitution as been greatly misinterpreted.
@lisjam1 I'm sorry that I used such a sweeping generalisation.. I'm sure that there must be millions of people in the States like you and @lfrans I just hope that your voices get not just heard but heeded too.
Strong visual statement Sean...I am often amazed at how people have always and continue to treat one another but it is always upsetting to find yet ANOTHER example.
I agree with all the sentiments - there are no words fit for such horror. But when are the Americans going to do something about their gun laws? (I am not anti-American and have American grandchildren)
Sean - thank you for your comments. Believe it or not, Sandy Hook is my home town and I attended that school the first year it opened. I haven't lived there since 1966, but still have many friends there and am in total shock. What can we do but pray now?
Maybe people would like to see what this wonderful little town was like when I visited there last June: http://rosswalkerphotos.blogspot.com/2012/07/my-home-town-in-connecticut.html
Some days I have the words and some not - in a case like this I'm completely lost. My emotions are all over the place: sad, confused, angry, empty etc. Your photo says it all. Very fitting.
@trixiehiscock@lisjam1@bluefirebucket@tamsg4@midumas@gooner46@ruthhowell@nadaa@rvwalker@lyno@thebluegnu Thank you all for taking the time to comment. I think it will take a very long time for those of at a distance from these heartbreaking events to get over the horror and pain of what happened. 24 hours on almost, I am struggling to make any sense of it. It is hard to disagree with what you are all saying. Ross, my heart goes out to you and your friends particularly.
@rvwalker Ross, I just tried to comment on your blog but I have none of the ID's to do so, so I have pasted it here verbatim.
Ross, it is Sean O'Neill from 365 here. Your photographs and commentary make Newtown seem an idyllic place, a safe place, a peaceful place. What horror was unleashed upon it yesterday. My heart is grieving for the children and adults who lost their lives in Sandy Hook yesterday and I wish the families and wider community the strength that they will need to deal with this needless tragedy. I fear that it will take many generations to heal the pain. I can tell you that here in the UK, the special affection that we have for America and its people has been strengthened, we stand shoulder to shoulder with you in grief, our heads are bowed.
