This evening we went to the nine lessons and carols service in Hathern. We were joined by 200+ others and there wasn't a spare seat in church.
Hathern Band played the music for all the carols, and some extra as well.
As someone who believes in the good in our species rather than a god, I am always very moved by this service, and it never fails to warm my soul. When they play "Who is he" it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
So, this is a proper P+S shot, but I decided this morning that I wanted a band shot for today, and this is the best I got!
I'd really love to get to a festival of nine lessons one Christmas. It's such a fitting way to start the celebrations. Our parents used to take us as kids when we visited our grandparents and there was one on in that city. Here they don't do it any more, only outdoor carols with entertainment - not nearly the same thing in my mind. How wonderful that you had the band to play for the carols.
