John O'Gaunt Viaduct ~ 7 by seanoneill

John O'Gaunt Viaduct ~ 7

A different POV for the disused railway viduct at John O'Gaunt.

On a line closed in the 1960's it is almost 50 years since the last train crossed this viaduct.

As often with my photos, colour version in album number 2.
Great pov & B+W...fav!

Unusual pov but very effective. In this instance I prefer the b&w.

A splendid, breath-taking shot Sean! love the buttercups, and the sky, softening the image and making the viaduct blend in to the landscape. Fav.

I love the drama b&w gives to this, the sky is amazing

Beautiful mono. wonderful DoF and very different POV, Sean.

Also Fav! just looked at the Exif data, so 10mm aperture and f18, explains the tremendous DoF, well done!

Great POV! I love the angles, the combination of bridge and nature (and sky) -- the textures/lines/shading -- everything about it. Fav!
PS While driving from Buffalo to Niagra Falls, we went under this amazing set of bridges and then by a huge oil refinery or something along those lines. I actually said to my hosts that there is a photographer named Sean in England who would love this area! I kept seeing shots I knew you would take beautifully. I tried a bridge and may post it sometime.

@gailmmeek Thank you Gail, that is so kind of you, echoes what I said earlier. Doubt I will be in Brum now until September though. I would love to wander around Gas St Basin and the Bull Ring, it has long been on my list, will let you know when i finally get there. This site might provide some inspiration for you. http://archive.imagesofbirmingham.co.uk/gallery-list

@taffy Thanks so much Taffy, that is very generous of you to have thought of me. American industry has a style all of its own, and I would love to get the chance to photograph it. TBH, I wish I had the time and money for a 6 month road trip across the USA and Canada, that is my dream!! Thanks for the Fav, I look forward to seeing your bridge shots, very much so!!

Great pov Sean, love the contrast of soft clouds and delicate stems against the hard brickwork.

Instant fav!

I absolutely love this one. You are a master of b/w. The composition is exquisite - the low perspective making the grass as prominent as the sky and bridge. Are those poppies? My fav flower. The textures flow incredibly together.

@apogee2012 thank you for such flattering comments. They're buttercups, but there are some poppies in my albums yesterday.
