Conkers by seanoneill

Conkers

A bit of a departure for me from the usual landscape or holiday shot!

This is an old shot that I have come back to. While we were out on friday I noticed that the horse chestnut trees are full of conkers.

This is one of my favourite shots of all time, and in keeping with this album, it has been given the B+W treatment. A new colour version will feature in my other album. Whilst I am sure that people will prefer the colour version, this version is an experiment to see if still life can convert to B+W, and I think it can on this evidence.

Much better viewed large.
Nice shot! I like the three phases.

Not surprised it's one of your favourite photos - I love it both in b&w and colour.

I like both but must admit preference for the color one in this case.

That's an old chestnut, Sean, but with a mono twist!

A brilliant still life, I think the textures work very well in b and w.

This is great in large and I much prefer this b&w version - can't really put my finger on why?
