Today the sky was clear and the wind in the right direction for me to take my first ever long exposure shots of Ratcliffe Power Station. Ever since I first saw Michael Kenna's LE shots of Ratcliffe I have wanted to shoot my own.
So I apologise to those of you who stop by regularly, who have seen enough of these to wallpaper Buckingham Palace, but it is a bucket list shot for me.
This was shot with my Big Stopper 10 stop ND filter at f/18 for 20 seconds.
I am pleased with the outcome and the way the steam vapour clouds have become very smooth. This has made it straight into the list of my favourite photos (of mine).
FAV! I think I've seen all your Ratcliffe images but this one is particularly amazing for all the reasons you describe in your narrative. I especially love the huge sky to give it space . . . .
I like this view, with all the negative space, better than the close-up. The towers aren't really gorgeous by themselves, so the addition of a big sky makes it much more appealing.
