I popped up into the village earlier to run a few errands.
This is where I spotted this old lady, with her dark round glasses making her look like Ozzy Osbourne's gran. Over her left shoulder is Heat, our very good local curry house. Over her right shoulder is a vacant shop, but I did spot someone I know talking to a builder outside earlier, so maybe it won't be vacant for long.
OK, onto the title of the shot. The number 1 bus has plied its way between Loughborough and Nottingham since time immemorial. My uncle Alan drove the number 1 in the mid to late 70s. The kids take the number 1 to school some days when Dad's Taxis are too busy elsewhere.
Thank you for the great response to my shots from Asfordby church yesterday. They took me rather by surprise.
All in all a very busy day workwise today, starting some major projects off took most of the day. I took a call from Ben's surgeon earlier, his next operation is confirmed as on Tuesday Feb 11th, and it will definitely be keyhole. Fingers, toes, everything crossed that it works for the lad.
Ben started piano lessons tonight, so I am just getting to put my feet up with a glass of red wine at 8pm.
She's definitely giving you a bit of a look! Hope Ben enjoyed his piano lesson and good to have the date booked in for the op, will have everything crossed for Ben on the 11th.
@jennywren Luck I think Jen. Our village has a population of 6000+ and is on an historic bus route. We actually have 2 bus routes, the number 1 an dthe number 63, though I am not sure where the 63 goes to or from!!
Love this pic and thank you for sharing a peek into your word with such a nice description. You have so much on your plate and I so appreciate how you seem to have such style and grace. Thanks for another wonderful shot and .... cheers !!
I like all the rectangles in this, nicely composed and the lady stands out well.
Feb 11th, not too long to wait but an eternity at the same time! Still, you do have a date now which must be some relief.
They should. Seen lots of photos from the early days of the bus company. The founders nephew has lots we have seen. Another reason I love photography capturing life for generations to come to see.
@newbank I came on holiday to East Leake from my home town of Southampton in 1973 and rode all day on my Uncle Alan's number 1 bus! One of the happiest days of my childhood!
