A busy day, out of the door early for the drive down to see a supplier in Haverhill in Suffolk.
On the journey down I had spotted today's subject when I drove past this closed diner at Wansford on the A1, which was waiting for me on the way back.
This used to be a Little Chef, and I can remember stopping there for lunch many times when I worked for Seven Seas in Hull and would take the A1 south or meetings with Tesco and Sainsbury. What a shame that this lovely old Art Deco style building is no longer economically viable as a diner.
Closer to home I managed to get a few shots of a new landscape theme which I will post tomorrow.
With it being the 1st of March on Saturday I plan to shoot at New Covert, to add to my 1st of the month shots there. Then from Sunday I will return to Clipstone Colliery for a number of days.
I recognise this! I use the A1 when returning from my brother's place in Wrestlingworth. As you say, a sad business. Nice photo with strong reflection, summing up our recent weather.
Sean this is a Fav for me...a great shot, with a great reflections, but the textures in the puddle really seals the deal! Great processing and enjoy your weekend!
@seanoneill it's been some amusement in Norwegian news today over the British soldiers that due to health and safety regulations cannot participate in Cold winter training because it's too cold ;-)
I really like this. An interesting looking building and great reflection. I remember always going to little chefs as a kid. Think there are hardly any left now, Heston blumenthal tried to reinvigorate them a while back. Fav
It's always sad to see buildings closed up like this especially when we can remember when they were profitable businesses. I guess it's happening everywhere. Wonderful shot with the reflection.
Worth watching just for the upstairs in Hicksons shop
