Saw this today in Occidental Park. You could walk arm and arm with this woman while she read from War and Peace. See deails of the project below. Fun afternoon...
Read tommorrow's post to find out about the lace cut outs behind her.

Walking in War and Peace
THE PROJECT:
Artist A.K. “Mimi” Allin will roll out a runner that stretches the full length of the park. She will stand at one end of the runner and wait for someone to walk her down the aisle. Those interested in walking with her tell her their name and take her arm. As they walk, she reads to them from War and Peace. At the end of the aisle, her partner gives her one sentence from their life. The only rule is that their sentence must contain the words war and peace. Finally, in parting, they take hands, look in one another’s’ eyes and say, “in war and peace,” as a sort of closing and vow to one another. As a community, we work through an epic novel, state our vows to preserve and walk on together despite our differences and we walk the purchase of Occidental Park together, thus owning it. Everyone who walks in the project takes away a small piece of the epic whole.
Walking in War and Peace is part of the artSparks 2010 program.
