@vignouse The males are much more colorful and fancy so to speak than the female birds that I've encountered since taking up photography. I'm sure there are bird species where the females are more colorful but I've seen no instance of this in my area yet. I have noticed that male and female Great Blue Herons seem to look alike except that the females are smaller. I am not a bird expert :) so these are just my observations.
