Grapefruit 5.21.11

I helped Dad mow the lawn this morning and then we had pancakes and grapefruit for breakfast. Here is the grapefruit I had before I ate it. This is my submission for the challenge this week. I thought I would try to get more attention by entering a challenge.
I think this image does need some critique as it was hard to get a good clear view of the grapefruit.

I think a grapefruit would be difficult to get a good focus on. I think your camera may have been trying to focus on the lovely moisture droplets. Here are some things to try in getting a better focus. Try placing the grapefruit where it will get some natural light (by a kitchen window?). My camera does not like artificial light. I have to reshoot some interior house shots today due to this. Try backing off from the grapefruit a bit (to get a better focus) and then using free photo editing software to crop the picture (the close cropping you have is good). Try pointing your camera at various angles to see what happens to the focus. I would try an angle looking up at the grapefruit myself. You might look under the tag of fruit and the tag of food and see how others have taken pictures of similar subjects. I do think that doing theme shots is a good way to get more attention and also to challenge yourself.

I do like your perspective/straight on approach to the grapefruit shot. I like this because it shows off the color of the grapefruit well. It gives the shot repetition and pattern, which is nice. It also shows the moisture droplets.

You need better focus......... nice idea though. Kathryn gave you some good advice, which I will use too!
