Tube station window boxes

Marmalade hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus) on the flowers in the tube station window boxes. Yes, gardens in tube stations is a real thing - there's an annual competition for Undergrounds in Bloom and the results for 2014 should be out in the next week or so. This year my local tube station has grown sweetcorn and runner beans in tubs, has tubs of herbs and is obviously entering the fruit and veg competition. And there are flowers in window boxes and some brilliant architectural banana plants.
Beautiful superb detail on the wings fav!

The hoverfly has wonderful markings. What a great idea to green up the stations. Very therapeutic I'm sure!
