I had time in Huddersfield to walk that evening as I'd booked the 6pm Megabus gold service back, thinking the 2pm bus would be too early, which it would have been. The sunset was amazing. There to help my daughter move out.
Sadly the 2pm bus would have been a whole lot better because by the time I got to East Midland Parkway on the way home - Megabus Gold uses coaches from Huddersfield to East Midland Parkway then trains to St Pancras - cable theft near Loughborough had disrupted the trains. We were patiently waiting on the platform until they realised the signal failure was not going to be easily fixed, so asked us all to wait in the waiting room in the warm. We eventually caught a train 2 hours delayed which meant I arrived into St Pancras after the last tube home had left Liverpool Street some 20 minutes earlier. East Midlands organised me a cab home, and I didn't arrive back until 1:30am.
