Southern Hawker laying eggs by shannejw

Southern Hawker laying eggs

Same place as I saw the last dragonfly, the broad-bodied chaser. There were two pairs of the broad-bodied chasers and at least one pair of Southern Hawker in this pond.

Three good things:
1. Got out for two field walks with my daughter - the local nature reserve and the fields the other end of town.
2. Spent some time watching the dragonflies
3. The local nature reserve was alive with butterflies, mostly meadow brown, but some skippers, a painted lady and a small tortoiseshell

Thank you for looking and your amazing support. You're all wonderful and I'm a flaky 365er, still trying to catch up. I am trying to get around all your amazing pictures (you should see the 365 tabs open so I remember to look at your pictures.)
How wonderful to witness this, lovely shot.

Nice to have the individual types identified. I always wonder what I’ve captured but find it hard to identify them, just by the info on line, although it does make for an interesting search and a good excuse to avoid housework for a while.

Good shot- they dart so quickly it's always a challenge to catch them but you did here!

You are quite the entomologist. I love the detail in the wings and the color.
