Sun on the rocks

On Friday we managed an almost spring-like walk before winter returned over the weekend. The recent winds had dropped, and felt quite warm in the sunshine as we walked around the Hill and up alongside the quarry edge, looking back to the cliff that now forms the north side of the Hill. There was a chap with a metal detector traversing the Hill, sweeping repeatedly across the cropped grass. Any search for buried treasure would be fruitless – even the rabbits give up digging when they reach the granite bedrock just a few inches below the turf. Maybe he was seeking something lost during recent sledging, although since the Quarry company has cleared all of the post sledging debris he may have been better off rummaging in the pile of broken sledges and discarded drinks bottles left near the road for collection. It was a lovely stroll, although of course still mudding in places despite the route being much higher than the surrounding countryside.
Blimey, not sure I would like to sledge here! Cliffs and quarries are unheard of in Cambridgeshire - flat as a pancake here! Lovely shot - you must have some really exciting walks.

@streetlyend There aren't many people who sledge down this side of the Hill.....

Not unless you were a real thrill seeker or very very lost!

It's a pretty spectacular quarry face, it's odd how it dwarfs the trees and bushes growing on the top, it makes them look quite tiny and insignificant. Great pov.
