For the first time in a while we were able to walk through this local field dotted with mature trees. The field, originally the village cricket field before the games were moved to a more convenient local recreation ground, is grazed throughout the summer by cows or sheep, whichever is available to the Woodland Trust, who manages the area, for thistle and nettle control purposes. Cows are not a problem, since they can normally be avoided, and the dogs don’t take much notice of them, but the sheep that were grazing there until a week ago are to be avoided. Tia in particular would certainly want to go and play with the entire flock.
Incidentally, following a leg injury a week or so ago, German Shepherd Lesia is having 10 minute walks on a lead, which both dogs find disconcerting as @shepherdmanswife heads back home with Lesia and I continue on the walk with Tia. Both dogs stop in their tracks and look over their shoulder at the other until each is out of sight, and I have to take care that Tia doesn’t suddenly head home without me.
Hope the dog is on the mend
