An early start for our trip back to Lake Louise, and we were soon on the Icefield Parkway. With no traffic at this early hour, apart from the occasional sleepy campervan pulling out of a campsite, soon overtaken, we made good progress, until we rounded a bend and came upon a traffic jam stretching around the next bend and up the next hill. No driver knew the reason for the hold up, and so I walked to the front of the queue, exchanging greetings with other drivers, and found a fierce lady with a “stop” sign. Apparently the road had been closed about 45 minutes before to blast some rock, and the rubble was still being cleared.
I walked back down the line of cars, updating anyone who asked, but the cars soon started moving, @shepherdmanswife picked me up, and we continued on our way, now in a line of traffic. @shepherdmanswife did some rather scary overtaking but it was a bit frustrating that we had wasted an hour or so.
Although we had seen all of the views during our trip up to Jasper a few days before, we did stop at Bow Lake where different lighting from a different perspective produced a different view than previously, and as we added more Gb to our camera memory cards, all the cars scarily overtaken a few minutes before now drove sedately past us
