Filling in a bit now – recent dog walks have either been in the early morning half-light, or in the gathering gloom of the evening, neither particularly photogenic. And so here is a re-visit to the wildlife pond on a late summer evening. I do remember this walk. A vivid rainbow arched across the sky, and a local wind turbine was reflected in the sunlight. The glowing rainbow colours over the stark lines of the turbine made a dramatic image, which unfortunately never got beyond my imagination, since the rainbow and turbines occupied different parts of the sky, and in any case a large pylon got in the way. As I walked the rainbow moved tantalisingly across the sky towards the turbine (or was it the turbine moving tantalisingly towards the rainbow?), but the direction of the sun also moved in relation to the turbine, and by the time that a fading rainbow was vaguely over the turbine, the turbine no longer reflected the sun, and in fact merged with the grey clouds behind. And so I changed my route, and went along the track to the pond instead, where I caught the last remnants of the rainbow.
Your dogs must love walking with you - such adventures. Over this stile and down by that quarry, and over at that pond, and by that pasture. I know I certainly enjoy the meanderings - a dog would enjoy it on so many other levels. All your tracking and conniving with the sky and the rainbow resulted in a very magical shot. FAV
