A grey and gloomy shot making the most of another misty moisty moody morning. @shepherdmanswife has new long lens, and since she wanted to try it out on wildlife, she suggested a stroll down to the “cow’s field” where the dogs and I have seen a hare on several occasions. I pointed out that the hare generally leaps out of the grass only 2 or 3 metres away, and then heads away at a considerable speed – in fact on the last couple of occasions even the dogs had to be content with following the scent a few seconds later. The hare stayed hidden and @shepherdmanswife had to make the most of a crow in a distant tree-top, which refused to co-operate, sitting passively in the tree instead of flying away for the desired action shot. I was instructed to encourage the bird to fly, and anyone passing at the time would have been surprised to see a bloke running towards a tree, arms flapping and squawking dementedly, apparently hoping to be mistaken for a bird of prey. @shepherdmanswife got her action shot, and Tia and I were permitted to set off on our longer walking route, leaving @shepherdmanswife and Lesia to return home. This shot, of the old barn, was taken on our return journey, as the sun was trying to break through the persistent mist.
