The season of misty moisty mornings is upon us, albeit only occasional misty moisty mornings at the moment. At this point of early autumn the misty mornings are calm and almost balmy, quite peaceful, with a promise that the pale shining disc in the heavens above will soon deliver warm sunshine to drive away the low lying fog. Early autumn mist is very different from later in the season, when the cooler nights result in damper mornings, with the countryside enveloped in large drops of condensation. At this time of the year the mist barely has time to lay a layer of wetness before the warmth of the day begins to dry the atmosphere.
