The horizon was brightening as Tia and I walked along the bottom of the fields this morning, with a clear sky waiting to welcome the rising sun. The trees before us were silhouetted against the oncoming dawn, but an annoying power supply cable above a roadside hedge bisected the view. I did not relish the idea of patiently editing it out, and so continued to the hedge, the cable disappeared out of view above our heads, only to be replaced by a telephone wire on the far side of the road. I crossed the road to lean on a convenient gate, all aerial intrusions now behind me, but now the far landscape had moved up the tree trunk. For the best PoV I needed to lie in the damp grass in front of the tree. The gate was locked, and climbing over would have left Tia tied to the gate at the roadside, but I did my best by crouching at the bottom of the gate, and leaning on the bottom rung, startling a fellow dog walker when I cursed as water drops hanging from the rung from found a convenient route down my sleeve to my elbow. But I got the shot, even though it was not quite as hoped for.
