Harvest home by shepherdman

Harvest home

I reckon between 150 and 200 acres of standing wheat harvested in less than 12 hours (thank goodness they stopped overnight). I find harvest a bitter-sweet time. It is a traditional summer event, but is also the first sign that Autumn is on the way. This morning was distinctly Autumnal, with a clean sharp chill in the clear air, different to the damp chill of a cold summer morning.
A great capture of a bountiful harvest & good store for the animals.

Beautiful shot, I know exactly what you mean about the bitter sweetness of harvest time. I love hay time and it's lovely to see the barn filling up with good quality hay, but like you say it is always a reminder that summer is drawing to an end.

Lovely light and shot. We had a definite bit of spring in the air yesterday so pretty excited about that ...

Nice scene I do like the round bales there somehow more photogenic than square ones.

Amazing what they can do with the big machines - really tidied things up!

Fabulous scene-always love harvest as I used to help my best friends granpa bring in the harvest when we were teens. Know the bitter sweet feeling, although the mother natures' autumnal colours are always amazing
