A morning dog walk on took us to Scout Scar, an inland cliff-top route in Cumbria where shrubs and trees struggled to thrive on the windswept shallow soil. No wind when we were there - perfect weather that continued for the rest of the week. The walk was badly timed - it was from our "Dog Friendly Pub Walks in the Lake District" book, but we were too early for the pub. (UK Dog owners - thoroughly recommend the series of Dog Friendly Walks books on www.countrysidedogwalks.co.uk. I am merely a customer of the publisher!)
