We drove up the Elan valley to find the "mountain road" to Aberystwyth, which @shephermanswife was convinced that she had seen signposted at the top of the valley, but the only road at the head of the valley was signed as a "dead end". Nevertheless @shepherdmanswife was convinced that it was the single track road to the coast. I persuaded her to let me check the map, and had to explain that those green dashes crossing black lines at the end of the road was a bridleway climbing up steep moorland that even a 4WD would struggle with. The mountain road was, in fact, the one on the far side of this bridge, further down the valley.
I was the one better at reading maps. My husband would get turned around in a parking lot and want to turn back the way we came. We had a few fights until he learned I was usually right.
