Here he is. He came back and stripped the end of this branch of all the cherry blossom despite hanging CD's from the tree, and it being so close to the window! I had to shoo him away this morning.
Can't think of what else to do to stop them. Any ideas?
Anyway the little bluetits (blighters) gave me lots of photographic opportunities. Shame it's cost me so many cherries!
@lucypics no they are truly destructive. I watched them land on the branch and pull each flower off and drop it. There was a pile on the floor all around the pot!
Ah he is so beautiful, and has to eat!! But I can understand your frustration! We have a mulberry tree and a cherry guava, and the birds just steal all the time! Lovely capture.
And he looks so proud of himself! Being a birder, I love seeing good shots of birds we don't have here in New Mexico. We'll have little bushtits completely take over a tree. He really is a cutie, even if he is naughty.
Love his cheeky face, maybe we shout go back to pints of milk on the doorster( the type where the cream rises to the top) so that they can pinch it! (Now I'm showing my age!)
He is so cute!!! Too bad he's destroying your cherry crop and future cherry pies and tarts! We place decoy doves, the kind hunters use, and place them in areas where the finches eat the blooms off our plants. You might try that. See my March 15 picture titled "Guard Dove on Duty 24/7"
Looks innocent to me! Too cute to be "a culprit". Our mischief makers are Cockatoos. With their big tough beaks they break off the whole branch when the fruit is almost ripe and drop it to the ground so they can come back and graze on the seeds when the fruit decays.
Fantastic shot. My only suggestion would be to use something else to shoot it with. A BB gun maybe? :-). At least they are very pretty, even if they are destructive.
Lovely capture of the pretty but naughty bird. I did a little research and discovered a site with pictures of bluetits stripping buds from trees, apparenltly with the intention of eating them, but dropping them when they find they are not edible or too big. I found this here: http://www.moorhen.me.uk/iodsubject/seasons_03.htm
Perhaps you could put something out for him to eat to tempt him away from the blossoms - but this is such a fabulous portrait with those vertical lines in the background making him look almost weightless. A fav.

As for the cherries, try putting out something even more scrumptious for them to eat. 8-)
