Yesterday it rained on and off all day, but then at the end of the day with the heavy clouds still above, a patch of the view from our cottage where we are staying for a few days, filled with sunlight through a gap in the clouds!
@denisefuller it cleared up for a while then rained again. It's been like that all day today, except less sunshine breaking through. We're here in Wales on holiday and the rest of ur time here is forecast rain and more rain! Never mind, it's better than being at work!
What glorious light against a dramatic sky, ideal landscape photography conditions. I really like how you have composed this with the sky dominating the frame. Fav
Light, shadow and sky are all gorgeous, have to fav this! Chantal, thanks for your comment on my picture of gerberas. You asked about what I do to create the softness. For that picture I used my macro lens (I use it a lot) with a very shallow dof, focusing on the edges of the the petals and letting the rest be blurred. Sometimes, though not in that picture, I use the Orton effect or the tilt-shift in PSE 11. Sometimes i find it's also possible to create a soft blurred effect with PSE's clone stamp tool, used at a reduced opacity.
@tristansmum thanks for sharing that with me. Unfortunately I don't have those effects, but I also use my macro a lot and could be more selective on my focus point to get the same effect. Will give it a go. Thanks
very dramatic and very nice
