Sorry to those of you who had commented on my butterfly but have just been out on a dog walk and prefer this fly that happened to pose for me whilst having his breakfast. The sun is shining and everything looks beautiful including the shine and iridescence of this fly. Strange isn't it that things you don't like (like flies) become fascinating photographic material!
I love my macro lens as it shows us the delicate wings and fine hairs as well as pollen on it's legs, and oh what beautiful eyes you have! @annied suggested I keep the butterfly photo too so have uploaded it to 28th May @shepherdmanswife/more/2014-05-28
@shepherdmanswife - I think you should keep both lol - but I do think flies are amazing - I am ok - Have my ups and downs - have been up the last few days but I think the down is lurking - hopefully looking at all the wonderful photos will lift me
@beckyjbrown I used my canon 60mm macro lens for this shot. I also have a canon 18-135mm, a sigma 10-20mm wide angle, and a canon 50mm and a 70-300 mm zoom which I think is Tamron.
Funny, I always thought flies were quite ugly till I got one in my macro lens and noticed the metallic green sheen, those big red eyes and the rather fairy-like wings. Okay, they are still insects and i still swat them when I see them around the house but they do have a certain beauty when you really look at them.
No arguing that this is a fabulous macro photo! You did it so perfectly, that I can't get the image of Jeff Goldbloom out of my head! (I think that movie was just called, The Fly...)
