The Early Bird gets the Worm...... by shepherdmanswife

The Early Bird gets the Worm......

or so the saying goes. The poor birds are eating as much as they can at the moment with it being so cold. It has been frosty all day together and didn't get above freezing (or not by much if it did). This Robin came to the feeder as soon as I filled it this morning.
Beautiful shot, wonderful focus and clarity. Fav

Great focus on the bird, I put up a feeder in my garden but it's too close to the fence and I can't seem to focus properly on the birds (not enough contrast I think)

What a gorgeous little guy. I've read that winter survival for birds depends on their getting enough to eat. They can cope with the cold if their tummies are full. Fav for this lovely capture.

Fabulous shot! Love everything about this capture. Fav. So glad to see them eating dried meal worms. I can't seem to get my birds interested in the dried ones. Maybe it needs to be colder here.
January 4th, 2015
What a great shot!! Do you actually fill the feeders with worms?! FAV!
January 4th, 2015
@panthora yes but they are dead! They are freeze dried. The birds love them but they are quite expensive to buy. Well worth it though to see the Robins feed on them. Thank you for your great comments on my ice photos. I'm glad you like them. I guess you don't get snow and ice where you live but then you do have the most fantastic sunsets that I love!
