Squirrel monkey Facts
Squirrel monkey is one of the smallest members of the primate group. There are five species of squirrel monkey that can be found in Central and South America. Squirrel monkeys live in dense tropical rainforests, wetlands, marshes and mangrove forests. Habitat loss is the main threat to the survival of squirrel monkeys. As a result of increased agriculture and shrinking of the territory of squirrel monkeys, they frequently invade plantations. Farmers kill squirrel monkeys to prevent damaging of the crops. Out of five species, two are listed as vulnerable (they can become endangered in the near future).
Such an exquisite little beauty. How painful it is to read that their habitat is being torn apart, and then they're killed when they come looking for food! Oh, the inhumanity! Tragic! Good for you for taking a beautiful photo and shedding light on it's plight.
Nice clarity!
