We're back from the ocean but we brought back a souvenir: a tangle of dried kelp that washed up on the beach. Monterey Bay is home to one of the largest kelp forests in the world, and is one of the most productive and dynamic ecosystems on earth, providing support to thousands of marine organisms, from sea urchins to sea otters.
I hung it up in my tree here.
