Eagle Scout!!!! by shesnapped

Eagle Scout!!!!

He did it!!!

You know how kids don't consider that they've "had" their birthday until they've had their cake and had the Happy Birthday song sung to them? Well, it's the same with having their Eagle Scout ceremony. We've known for months that everything was confirmed and passed, and we've even had the official paperwork and certificate for about a month now. But today made it official. Today was his Eagle Scout ceremony. Today was The Day. And what a day it has been!!!

SO proud of this young man! He has come so far in life, and overcome so many obstacles! But overcome them he has, and he has grown so much through Scouting! I decided years ago that this should be a journey for him and his dad, and I'm glad that I did, but looking back, I do wish I played a larger role. I'm really going to miss that part of his life even tho I played a smaller role.

He was brave enough to allow me to go on their high adventure trip down the C&O Canal on bicycles a few years ago. We biked over 200 miles that week thru sun, rain, mud, and thunder and lightning. I visited more than half the porta-johns on that trail, pitched my own tent every night except the first when they taught me how to pitch their particular tents, showered only twice that week and took one bath in the canal itself. We were covered in sweat some days, and covered in mud other days. Literally! We fixed broken bikes, and broken bikers. I came to respect each of them as they overcame their individual hurdles, and they came to respect and trust me as they learned that I knew how to help them, while they learned and respected the fact that women had to visit the porta-johns on a regular basis! By the end of the adventure, I learned that I could DO, and PUT UP WITH, more than I ever believed I could!!!

I truly believe that everyone would benefit from being a Scout. You learn so much about yourself. You learn to push your limits. You learn that you really can survive and endure. And I've definitely seen my son learn this through the years. I've seen that his Scouting adventure has turned my boy into a man, an honorable, trustworthy, loyal man.

Congratulations my son! You did it! Well done! I'm so proud of you, and I love you beyond belief!!!

PS - obviously this is not my photo! :-)
Great big huge congrats to your son for this outstanding accomplishment. Love the story and how cool that you were along for the ride.

Wow, definitely a big day. Congratulations! It's quite an accomplishment. My son is just starting his Eagle Scout project, so I know how hard and long the process is. Definitely a FAV! for him!

Congrats on making finalist in the 6 word challenge. It really is a pretty picture! You are such a talented photographer.

We are get-pushed partners for the week - I wonder if it's coincidental that the two of us have been paired up since both of us have been slacking in the posting department!
It's sometimes hard to remember that we don't have to post 365 'masterpieces' a year - but try to post on a daily basis.
Also, it's hard to get back into posting daily once you get out of the habit. (At least it is for me).
So - my challenge to you is to take a picture every day for the next week - just a regular pic of ordinary happenings in your life and make a collage of the five most memorable.
(you can challenge me to do the same if you wish and we can be more than get-pushed partners - we can be encouragement partners as well).
As a further challenge - and this is entirely optional if you wish - is that they say it takes 21 days to establish a habit once again.
I am willing - if you are - to commit the next 21 days to posting and commenting to get back into the habit of 365.
Let me know if this works for you.
All the best,
Wendy
