Well I guess all was not lost! When I got to the second card of the Chincoteague, the images were significantly better! I will attribute that to the fact that I may have been calmer and more controlled. I was really trying to breathe slower and loosen my grip, and really pay attention to each snap rather than willy-nilly snapping away.
@frankhymus Ok. This one is a little more serious. It was actually a decent shot to begin with (I can post the original if you'd like to see it), and I've been very careful and deliberate with my processing. Definitely a moment to be critiqued!
Yes, i think it is a fine shot. The white bird fits nicely into the contrasting layers of the background, the textures of the water are nicely varied according to the selective focus, and the edges of the bird are nicely crisp. Nicely shot and well finished in post. Fav.
@shesnapped I would say certainly. perhaps I'd try to desaturate and blur the color in the background. Just a little. Watch for "pokies" around the edges, like I just said on another image of yours. There are a few that would be simple to clone out. In the water on the left frame especially. The vertical stick in the center of the frame is another. No need to get obsessive with this "distraction" stuff, just deal with the big ones.
