I have never seen hay wrapped!! That is such a cool idea and then they can stay in the fields longer I imagine? Don't they get hot in there and sweat? I'm amazed!! FAV! Love the country feel and scenery!!
@peterlgrave@cashew these are big bales of silage not hay.The grass is still moist when baled. It is then wrapped and stacked sometimes in the field sometime transported to the farmyard. Yes it does get hot, that is the idea to cure/ferment the grass into silage. It is just the same as making silage in a pit/clamp but not everybody has pits so they make bales. We actually make both. I posted a picture on 16th July showing the baling and wrapping of some bales if you want to look here is the link. http://365project.org/shirleybankfarm/365/2015-07-16. Hope this explains things for you.
I don't know about everyone else Shirley but don't bother thanking me. I think it is fair to assume that comments and favs are appreciated without going to the trouble of responding to everyone.
