Now winter is knocking on the door my little squirrel friends are back quite frequently. This little chap was having a good feed today. Often they can be seen taking nuts from the box and scurrying off and burying them somewhere.
I just love to see the red squirrels. they look so much prettier than ours.
I got the light with decoration back up and made a display for the alcove. Hans just has to string the lights still and then I can take a picture of it. fav for the red one.
@rosiekind Thank you Rosie, we only have red squirrels in this area, although it is a uphill battle to keep the greys out. I have just posted a borrowed picture of the floods in Appleby which is 7 miles from us. We escaped flooding here although the village river did burst it's banks and all the roads around were flooded. A few houses in the village and the next one got water in but none very deep.
@flowerfairyann Their tails can be so different, always bushy but different colours. That is one of the ways I can tell I have different ones coming into the garden.
@milaniet I often find little holes in my lawn where they have dug things up, but they never seem to remember where they buried stuff and scuttle around digging all over.
@peterlgrave Thank you Peter, we are very lucky to have the reds and not greys although odd one do appear but we have rangers that very soon dispatch them again.
@terryliv Indeed there is, throughout the area there are red squirrel wardens who will seek out greys if they are seen in an area and destroy them. They also monitor the health of the reds to see that the pox has not got to them.
