Suckler sale by shirleybankfarm

Suckler sale

Today was a big sale at the auction. There were sucklers, and stores. Sucklers are animals that have just come off their mothers, stores have been off their mother a while and are eating feed. We had 30 sucklers in and this is one of them, which is a blue cross calf 6 months old.
Nice shot Shirley.I haven,t been to a cattle sale since my young teenage years. Be interesting to know prices as they are getting top prices for cattle here at the moment.

His coat looks ready for winter - a handsome beast.

Thank you all for your kind comments. @peterlgrave This calf made about £755, which is actually less than she would have made at the same sale last year. @hermann He looks big in the picture because the ring is higher than the floor I am on. Most auctions in the UK do this too try and fool the buyers into thinking the animals are bigger than what they are!!! @flowerfairyann He has been outside all summer so yes he has his winter coat on.

Is this at Carlisle or Kendal Shirley? I love cattle auctions & the excitement of the bidding. This looks a nice animal, hope they all sold well!
