Outbuilding by skipt07

Outbuilding

I was driving down a rural road and spotted this weather worn outbuilding. I turned around and took a number of shots in RAW to experiment.
Great composition

Only way to appreciate the depth and potential of raw shots is to take them - and clearly you were well-rewarded with a fantastic result! Great image evoking a sense of the past. Well done!

@kerristephens - Thank you so much Kerri!!

@dmdfday - You are very kind Diane!! Thank you!

@lynnb - Thank you for the wonderful comments Lynn!!

@coastandcactus - Thank you very much Cissy! I have talked with a co-worker who is a lot more experienced then I am in photography. He told me he shoots in the highest JPEG setting he can and not in RAW. So I never tried it until now. I tried doing a three shot bracket 2 stops over to 2 stops under. I was surprised how much longer it took the camera to record the three shots.

Fantastic! Raw is so intimidating to me for some reason!

@skipt07 Skip, I shoot raw but I don't bracket. I also use the very highest speed card available, and have no issues taking lots of shots in a row like a Gatling gun!

@groovygirlrn - Thank you very much Sheri!!

@coastandcactus - I use a class 10 card PNY. What do you use?

great shot. love the clouds and the texture of the wood. I also have been playing around with RAW. It is so confusing - the contradictory positions that people take on the subject. Consequently, I have my camera set to take a shot in both JPEG and RAW. - that way I have 'options'. I've tried bracketed shots (3) using this setup - and it took 2 - 3 seconds to take 3(x2 filetypes). I dont know if you consider that 'long' or not...

@travelingcamper - Thank you very much Lorena!!

@coastandcactus - Thank you Cissy!. I was looking through a photography magazine last night and came upon an ad for these. I'll check them out.

@marlboromaam - Thank you Maggie for your kind comments and and request to pin! Yes you may!

@bobbyj - Thank you so much Bobby! I really appreciate your comments!

@stephw - Thank you so much Stephanie! Well, the guy that told me he quit shooting in RAW told me he felt that since he needed to convert his photos to JPEG's to have them printed he might as well shoot them as JPEG's in the first place and save the hassle. Three seconds isn't long for doing a single bracketed shot, but if you were to have your camera set for burst mode, to catch an action shot, say a sporting event, the regular SD class 10 cards might bog down recording your images if you were to take say 10 rapid fire shots and you could end up missing a shot. That would be the biggest factor for using an SDXC card. The speed your camera can communicate with the card in recording you images.
