For the hay and the corn and the wheat that is reaped,
For the labor well done, and the barns that are heaped,
For the sun and the dew and the sweet honeycomb,
For the rose and the song and the harvest brought home --
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving! ~ Unknown
Definitely worth viewing large on a black background if you have time.
Skip....this is absolutely, gloriously stunning. This is a bit of heaven on earth, right here. Love that sky, the wonderful flare, the shocks of corn, everything. Fav!:)
@amandal - Thank you very much Amanda! It was cloudy most of the day with a drizzle falling. I needed to run to town and the skies started clearing up. On the way back home I stopped and bracketed some shots of the corn field and sun.

Thank you all so much for the overwhelming comments and favs! I guess I should have put more information in my comments about this photo, but I didn't want to detract from the Thanksgiving poem. Yesterday was very overcast and a drizzle fell most of the day. No thoughts of even going out to capture a photo entered my mind. Around 5:35 pm I ran an errand to town and I noticed that the sky was clearing with some promising clouds. On the way back home it began to really look good so I pulled off the road and took 3 series of shots bracketing them, two stops over and two stops under. When I got home later in the evening I pick one of the three series and then I ran three of them through Photomatix to create an HDR since the sun was so low creating a high contrast between highlights and shadows. This is what it spit out. The only other thing that I did was remove a lens flare from in between the two lower spikes of the sun flare.
@danette - There is indeed Danette! If we'd only take the time to look at what is most important!
