Mom decided to try out her 50mm lens tonight. She's had it for awhile but hadn't really played with it too much. So here's my advice to her...take it back...I mean it must be broken...just look at Jack...he's out of focus in every shot. Must be something wrong with it...I'm just saying.

adorable, of course, but one question...So what is the advantage of a 50mm lens?

So cute! But I'd have to agree with you, poor jack is all blurry! ;) He looks so sad about it in the last shot! :)

@joannemed ~ It really makes your background soft. This is the 1.4 50mm. It's good for low light also. I haven't used it very much so I thought I would play with it. I really don't know what the heck I'm doing...lol.

Very cute montage!

I have this lens and I love it. Keep playing and you will too. I have a question. How do you get such beautiful indoor light? Never yellow, never flashed, just perfect and pure. Do you use some type of fill light? I admire this about all of your photos.

@wac ~ I use the Nikon SB-600 flash. I usually bounce the flash off of the ceiling or the walls. It costs about $220.00 I think.

I need to take photography lessons from you. I agree with Wendy, your photos always have the perfect lighting. Thanks for the info about bouncing the flash off of the ceiling or walls.
I really like that Lego is getting the focus, since Jack seems to be uninspired and prefers a nap.

So cute! I love how Jack looks progressively more sleepy (or bored?) in each shot!

OH coool! I love playing with new equipment, and thanks for the info on the light that you use. I struggle with indoor shots. And for not knowing what you did, I think it worked. The background is soft.

Very cool collage, but you're sure in focus Lego :)

hahaha...very cool : ) cool collage : )

lol - just be glad YOU'RE in focus, Lego!

@wac I agree. She never has that yucky "flash" look.

Awww love Jack's face... He thought that he is not in the photo so he can take a nap ))) Great shot!

Thanks for the info on the flash Kay! I have been thinking of buying an external flash and that sounds like a good one as I am a Nikon gal myself! Jack is so cute here! And Lego of course!

You have inspired me to break out my 50mm and practice!

There's my baby!!!! Those eyes!!! I'm in love!!!! Why is Lego so darn expressive...he's entire face is a poem, a song...just love! *sigh*

great collage Kay!!

Aww, love the collage of puppy love!

Thanks for you nice comments. If your guys had slipped into the pasture I am sure they would have been polite and the horses would have loved them. My pup is the naughtiest dog alive!

Cute...well, if something is out of focus in my shots I know to blame myself and not the lens...but you know more about photography than I do...as I still just use my p&s!

And, yes, I know you love flamingos!

I have the 50mm lens too, and I'm just getting used to it... mostly to the fact that my autofocus doesn't work with it so I have to focus manually. But it IS good in low light conditions -- at least, much better than my other lenses! Love this photo set, by the way. Those gorgeous doggy eyes!

Oh, what a cute collage. I love the progressively sleepy Jack in the background. I have a 50mm lens for my SLR, as well, and like you, I haven't used it much. I tend to use my p&s all the time because...well, mostly because I'm lazy. There I've said it.
