Day 140 - Tired Old Workhorse by snaggy

Day 140 - Tired Old Workhorse

Don't get many of these lying around in Wiltshire - they tend to get snapped up and renovated pretty quick by enthusiasts. This one was outside a farm in Dauntsey.

Wonderful old machine. I love the color.

What is it that makes these old machines so photogenic? Decay, rust, character! You caught them all! Great shot!

Lovely shot, bet it has done some miles.

That's got bags of character! So much more interesting to shoot and look at than the modern variety. Great selective colour and I love the rust!

Interesting old workhorse Kev. I like the composition, and the selective colour; but I'm not 100% on the colour if I'm honest. Maybe it's because it's such a large part of the picture so the effect is lost a bit for me. Equally though I like how the b&w emphasises the tired old look. You know what I'm going to say next - I'd love to see this in B&W or maybe even sepia, really add to the old "left outside and forgotten" feel...nice shot though, nostalgic...

Works really well with selective colour. Well done!

The selective toning is superb Kev and really suits the subject and content : we have a vintage tractor rally heading this way over the Bank holiday so will be snapping away there

shouldn't mix a cross-ply and a radial on the same axle. The MOT man won't be pleased.

Love the selective red here. Works great emphasizing all the rust & colour

@chezza @joeboo @paul2782 @eevarita @tomo87 @sturnus @padlock @jaynspain @megmills @cathieg @eyesmile @ridley Thanks you all for the kind comments. this was one of those shots where I knew I had a great subject but it@s location wasn't great. I took it from all angles to try and the background but largely to no avail. So actually, it's not really selective colour - I just desaturated the greenery which was just far too distracting. As Tom suggested, I tried b&w, sepia, you name it, but there's far too much going on in the background.

Nicely shot and processed.

I like the SC and the composition. We have a working old tractor like this at the Cricket Club used for towing the gang mowers

Fine shot, great colours against the muted background, really emphasises the subject

@ch1ppy_m1nton Cheers, Chippy. Just loved the old tractor - wished I cold have got a better background - may go back on a sunnier day and get a real low pov looking up!
