Day 358 - What the Causeway is for....

In 20 years I have never seen the rather small River Avon flood as badly as this. It was quite a sight.

But this is why Maud Heath left money after her death to build this Causeway 500 years ago so that folk south of the river could get to the market in Chippenham when the flood waters rose. So you could walk over the river, but not drive, unless you had a 4x4.

Another route home then....
Impressive, I wouldn't dare walking with this agitated water below...

Fav, I love how you processed this. The image is stunning and you can just feel the power of the water with the choppy waves. Myself, I prefer to see the power of the waves in water over the smooth satin look. Just my taste, the more it's churned up the better I like it.

@gazbadger @susale @ch1ppy_m1nton @roseolivia @espyetta @genesis_one @joeboo @ziggy77 @sturnus @virtualbrownie @zenna @pflaume @lnicole419 @leananiemand @zoomjoyce @my_photofun @cocobella Thank you all for your kind comments and favs. Could't quite believe when this somewhat sneaked onto the PP...

As it happened, bumped into a pro-photographer taking some shots when I was here who gave me two simple tips - concentrate on composition and don't be frightened to process. Now I still think I went over the top here, but it needed a tone to give it some drama, cos it sure was dramatic. Thanks again!
