The second-generation Ford Thunderbird appeared in 1958 and was produced for three years. These were the first T-Birds to have a back seat, and sports car purists denounced the redesigned Thunderbird when it was released. Its squared look gave rise to its "Squarebird" nickname. Yet sales soared and the 1960 T-Bird sold twice as many cars as the the total of 1955 to 1957 T-Bird production!
This 1960 T-Bird is extremely rare for two reasons - first, it has a sliding metal sunroof - the first post-war American car to be so equipped. Second, it was bought new by Truett Cathy, the founder and owner of the Chick-fil-A company.
This concludes the car show series and tomorrow we will head back to Tulum, Mexico.
Beautiful capture of an iconic car and ornament. The color and softness of the background give this a great artistic quality. this is definitely my favorite of your recent car show series.
Interesting catching up with these car shots Danny - all so lovingly photographed. At no stage have any of my cars looked as clean and shiny as these!!
