Marble Collegiate Church and Empire State Building
After checking out the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park, I bought a gigantic NYC pretzel for breakfast and with pretzel in one hand and the LX3 in the other, I headed north up Fifth Avenue. I somehow managed to take this photograph while juggling that giant pretzel, and all things, considered, I am pleased with the results.
Marble Collegiate Church, founded in 1628, is one of the oldest continuous Protestant congregations in North America. The congregation, which is part of the Reformed Church in America, is now located at 272 Fifth Avenue. It was built between 1851 and 1854 and was designed by Samuel A. Warner in Romanesque Revival style with Gothic trim. The facade is covered in Tuckahoe marble, for which the church, originally called the Fifth Avenue Church, was renamed in 1906.
The Empire State Building is my favorite skyscraper in NYC. For over 40 years, it was the world's tallest building and is an American cultural icon. Designed in the art deco style and completed in 1931, it rises 102 stories and stands 1,454 feet tall.
Best viewed large to see the architectural details.
Glad you are on the mend, me too. Super shot of what I think is the most famous skyscraper in the world. In fact, I have just bought my son a 3D puzzle of it for his christmas stocking.
Empire State Building........... Gotta LOVE IT! My most favorite Movie........... based on that building.......... I am a sucker for classic
