“I guess I should have kept my mouth shut
When I started to brag about my car
But I can't back down now
I pushed the other guys too far
She makes me come alive
And makes me wanna drive
When she says don't worry baby…”
Don’t Worry Baby is the most beautiful song ever recorded by The Beach Boys. Written by Brian Wilson and Roger Christian, it was released in 1964. It is a tender ballad about the love a boy has for both his girl and his car.
I’d like to think the car in the song is this 1962 Corvette. A true classic, the very last of the C1 Corvettes, it is the kind of car a teenage boy would fall in love with. It's new rear end styling, featured here, hinted at the amazing change to come in 1963 with the Sting Ray. Re-edited yesterday. Best viewed large.
Just looked at it large, and have to fav it - don' think I have ever faved a car shot before, and can't actually believe I am doing it :)
But it is so lovely and red and has shiny things. Perfect.
I love the you're capturing the iconic details that distinguish the car without even having to read the description. These tail lights, yesterday's porthole window and the details of the days before really get my attention
I went to prom in a '72 (I think) corvette. While we were out, the windshield wiper flew off when driving in the rain. So stinkin' cool a car, though. Love this shot of the tail lights!!
I love these car shots! I have been making an attempt at trying out shots similar and they just don't have the same feel. I love how you focus on these trademark features rather than shoot an entire car, it makes the photo so much more interesting!
Gorgeous shot Danny ! Just went back through your May calendar as I'm running far behind.. Love all your boardwalks and gulf shots, but this car series is stupendous ! : )
@ivan Thanks, Ivan - I set the nikon's picture control to vivid and in post, I added a velvia filter.
@rvwalker Thanks, Ross. I live in the past also when it comes to automobiles - the old classics are far more beautiful than the modern blobs that all look alike.
holy moley! not heard this song in so many years!! makes the pain in my neck and back disappear! are you doing your own song to photo challenge? that is great! i did a month of the beatles in september 2011 and i didn't come up with photographs as beautiful as yours are, but i pulled it through, too, considering i also did them alphabetically. great work!
@summerfield Thanks so much for the great comments and for the follow. Yes, I am doing my own song to photo challenge - started in April and will finish on May 31. I have been doing it consecutively for 29 days now!
