Located at Broadway and 12th in the Village, the Strand is one of the largest independent bookstores in the world, with "18 miles" of books in inventory. Famous for it's used and rare book selection, the Strand is a "must see" when in Greenwich Village.
ooh I totally remember this store from when I used to live in Princeton. Have spent hours there and there is a really good bagel shop across the street I think. Nice one.
A nostalgic photo for me. There aren't many things I miss about city living, but used book stores are one. Rainy days used to be an opportunity to spend the entire day browsing for books. Nicely composed with the street on the left.
I love your pictures ! When I was a teen, dreaming of what my life would be, my best friend and I had a plan. We were going to move to SoHo or Greenwich Village. Smoke clove cigarettes. Write poetry. Sleep with long haired musicians who wrote us beautiful music. Wear berets. And well, hang out and share our perceived coolness with others.......
Striking image, the only place I have been in NY is the airport. So, this is very fascinating to me. Glad you provided information along with your wonderful composition.
Fav! good to know there are still people who enjoy books - real books. wonderful shot! Love all the NYC shots I've seen so far. You should put together a photobook of your NYC shots! I believe Blurb do fabulous ones!
