I took my son on a photo shoot in Little Five Points, which is a funky, hip part of Atlanta. We liked this coffeehouse and you can see my son's reflection in the door. He used my deceased father's Pentax K1000 film SLR for this shoot, and we both used equivalent focal length prime lenses. It was a really fun shoot with my son, and if this image gets a good response, I will post more from this shoot. This was the last photoshoot I did with my trusty Nikon. I gave my entire Nikon kit to my son as part of his college graduation present.
@alophoto Thank, Amanda. My short list to replace the D3100 was: Nikon D750, Sony A73 and Fuji X-T2. The Nikon was too big, the Sony was too expensive. I bought a new Fuji X-T1 for half price,! It was way too good a deal to turn down. It's a superb camera and I love it. After this series, I will be posting a long NYC trip series where all images were taken with the Fuji. It's a very nice piece of kit.
Love this shot, so vibrant. Love coffee, too! :) Great that you presented your Nikon kit to your son. I'm interested in Fuji myself was thinking of the X-Pro 2. Tina's little 600D takes terrific pix, great colour and sharpness. You've seen some of her shots on here. I got rid of my Pentax K-5 and lenses, got a Sony a6300 but it's very techy, lots of screens, even to set spot metering or focusing - I like buttons I can feel and turn! Best wishes from us both
@ivan Thanks for all the nice comments, my friend. I highly recommend the Fuji with the X trans sensor. I can tell there is a measurable difference in image quality and user-friendliness with the Fuji, the lenses are sharper than my Nikon lenses and the camera feels very analog. If you enjoyed the experience of taking photographs, you will love using the Fuji
