July 4th Race

Trainer Mike is famous for saying, 'you can't NOT run a 5k on July 4th!' I was hesitant to do it - or much of anything - today. July 4th was Lucy's birthday. She would have turned 7 today. Part of me wanted to just stay in bed the whole day. We always run a race in the North Hills, and there is a woman in that part of town who makes custom dog cakes. I would run the 5k, then husband and I would drive and pick up her birthday cake. I miss her so much, but I am grateful for my friends who made me get out of the house and stay active with them. Today turned out okay. I was able to get through it.
