Flying to Barrow, Alaska

Just a phone photo here. I’ve gotten behind , again, on my 365. This time because I’m up in Barrow doing some behavior consulting for special education. Thought I’d have some photo ops but working 12 hour days so can’t get out. Weird to be up here in the sun though. It’s so bright and so stunning, and the coldest place in America I think. -20 F first day. I get to come back in August for three weeks so maybe then. Also the main cable into the village got cut so we had no communication, phones, WiFi, tv, radio all gone in an instant. No communication even with planes so no way in or out. Even the bank was down so no money either!!! Makes the reality of being here settle in. Still love it though. Heading home tomorrow if the storm holds off.
Wow Stef! I guess you won't be reading my reply any time soon! This is a phenomenal photo...so hard to imagine such a cold place with Easter looming close! It would probably do everyone good to be cut off in the moment and discover what it's like to live with that for a few days!

This is an incredible photo. Yes, 12 hour days are tough to handle. Maybe in August you can have some just plain old 8 hour days, smile.

What a beautiful place. I agree with @Weezilou it would probably be good for all of us to experience no phones or Wi-Fi for a few days.

Your work certainly gets you to places. Sounds like an extreme condition you have been under but must be fascinating too. What an incredible view you have from the plane.

The conditions sound very difficult, but a stunning photograph from the air. Looks like something from science fiction!
